Silent Basketball Brand Story

I am someone who truly loves basketball. When I was in school, I was a member of the basketball team — the sport was a part of my youth. Every time I dribbled the ball, I felt immense joy, and I enjoyed the rhythm of the ball in my hands. Thanks to basketball, my school days were vibrant and fulfilling.

Later, I started working and started a family, and my life became busy and stressful. When work pressure built up, the most relaxing thing for me was to go home and practice dribbling with both hands. This not only relaxed my body but also served as a mental reset and rejuvenation.

However, since moving into an apartment in the city, I had to give up this habit. The neighbor downstairs would always complain: “You’re shaking my ceiling!” even when I was just dribbling lightly. Late at night, rainy days, apartment buildings… practicing basketball seemed to have become a luxury. At that moment, I realized—not everyone who loves basketball has a place to play.

So, I began to ponder: Is there a silent basketball that doesn’t make noise but still has the authentic feel of a real basketball? But what truly made me determined to create Silent Basketball was my son.

I noticed that at some point, after school he would go straight to the couch and stare at his phone or tablet. Hours would go by like that — games, videos, cartoons — it became his whole after-school routine. I said to him: “You should move around a bit. Didn’t you used to love playing basketball? Isn’t practicing more fun than staring at videos?”

He just looked down and said quietly: “I’m afraid of bothering the neighbors.”

I was speechless. In that moment, I realized — this wasn’t just my problem. Countless people who love basketball — both adults and kids — have been forced to stop playing because of space and noise limitations.

So I started trying to modify the ball. My first version added a soft outer layer, but the grip was terrible and it lost almost all its bounce. The second version was slightly better, I changed the material, and the bounce improved, but it wore out too quickly. I kept trying, testing again and again — in my living room, in underground parking lots, even in hotel rooms. I recorded the sound, bounce performance, and how well it worked on different floors.

Finally, after many prototypes, I created a foam airless basketball designed for indoor basketball training — the Silent Basketball. It isn’t just a toy. It’s a choice, a response to freedom, a way to never give up on your passion.

It opens up a “place where you can practice.”
